Pico-Whittier organizers hold historic Easter Sunday rally for Palestine

The Pico-Whittier Alliance for Liberation and Peace held a Rally for Palestine on Easter Sunday, March 31st, 2024.

Whittier resident Alex Rocha Torres, one of the organizers, said “Whittier honors all our Palestinian martyrs. Gaza will rise just like Jesus! #ceasefirenow #freepalestine.”

Pico Rivera resident and organizer Lulu Ruiz said “The best thing we can do on Easter is honor Jesus and where he’s from. We’re doing just that! #freepalestine.”

The Rally started at Central Park, proceeded down Greenleaf Ave, arrived at City Hall, and marched back to Central Park. Attendees joined in chants, including “No more money for Israel’s slaughter!” and “Starbucks you can’t hide! You’re funding a genocide!” (Outside the Starbucks on Greenleaf).

The Pico-Whittier Alliance for Liberation and Peace is expected to continue its efforts to pass a City Council Ceasefire Resolution both in Whittier and in Pico Rivera.
